The Boost 'n' Buff is a simple little booster that doubles as a buffer when it's turned off (so it's not a true bypass effect). You should be able to squeeze this one in a 1590A. The FSw pads are for the bypass footswitch. If you want to build the second version of the Boost 'n' Buff, add a B20k to the output as a volume control.
Any number of things. You could have something shorting, a bad component, cold solder joint... Check your traces for any shorts and go over your build with an audio probe.
Hello, maybe it's a silly question but, how do I wire the footswitch? Offboard wiring for this kind of arrangement always confuse me, In and Out go straight to the in and out jack?. Thanks for your excelent work!
Hi, I'm a bit confused about the FSw1 and FSw2 and the in and out of the effect. Shouldn't I use the FSw1 to do directly to the "in" of the effect and the FSw2 to go to the input jack? Does that mean I have to make double connection from the foot switch to the input jack and the boost? thank you for your reply!
What replacement of bc549 can i use??
ReplyDeleteJust about any medium to high gain NPN silicon transistor. Google is your friend.

ReplyDeleteWhat could be happening?

ReplyDeleteThe In/Out pads go directly to the in and out jacks. The footswitch selects between the boost and buffer. It's not a true-bypass effect.
DeleteJust made it, works well altough it gets pretty bassy when you crank up the gain
ReplyDeleteMay be a dumb question, but are the large grey oval/circles 1uF Film Capacitors?
ReplyDeleteYeah, specifically the box film caps from Tayda.
