Here's a pretty unique fuzz for Fuzz Friday–the Acceleron from Field Effects. It uses a mix of BJT and JFET transistors and offers a wide range of fuzz tones. I've laid it out for board mounted pots and you'll notice a big box film cap labeled ??? It's probably 2.2µF, but socket and experiment.
Verified! At first I tested it with MPSA13 and 29, because it was not 14, but it did not sound good. Today the MPSA14 arrived and sound was soon another, loud and powerful. The first position of the switch is the one I liked the most, the center is very sharp and shrill and makes some noise, the third and more bassy and muffled, but it is usable. The big film cap used 2.2uF, the electrolitics of 1uF and 10uF, I used tantalum. Thanks for the great layouts, I can not spend more than a week, without doing at least one.
Thank you!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother spectacular fuzz for "our" collection.
