The Durham Sex Drive is a pretty versatile Tube Screamer variation. It can go from clean boost to medium overdrive. The traditional input and output buffers have been removed and there's a toggle switch (SPDT on/off/on) to select between different clipping options–hard, off, and soft. Pots are board mounted and it'll fit snuggly in a 1590B.
Thanks for verifying. The LEDs are probably not going to light up as they're only being used as soft clipping diodes and aren't going be getting enough voltage to light up in the feedback loop of the IC. I've only had one pedal that had LED clippers that actually lit up and they were hard clippers in a RAT.
Using a probe, I can't anything past the 47k resistor to the 1uf cap. I've made one of these before from the same batch of etched boards and just can't figure out what is going wrong.
I've desoldered and replaced all components around it. Any ideas?
I built it and it works. But I have a question: how to correctly insert the red LEDs and should they light up when the pedal is turned on?

ReplyDeleteSome LED's in the top right image are miss-labeled FYI,
