The Quantum Mystic is probably the most tricked out DOD250 around. It was developed with Mike Scheidt from the band Yob and based on his Grey Spec 250. It features an active 3-band EQ section and can create tones ranging from boost, to classic distortion, to modern doom metal tones.
After building and playing with it for a while the only comment I have is that the gain knob isn't as responsive and doesn't have a lot of range as videos I've seen and heard of the original pedal. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks
Can you tell me about your pot markings because there is some confusion between continents as I have seen online. Maybe you could include this in your General layout notes.
Yeah, what you posted is the convention I use. This effect is based off the DOD250 which used a C500k pot for the gain control, so I don't think there's a mistake with the schematic I based this off of. But sometimes things need tweaking, so experiment with B or C taper 1M pots.
This is very close to the original. The only thing that needs to be corrected is the volume pot. It must be an A100K to be like the original. Otherwise all values are correct. I double checked it with the schematic I traced on my unit. I just built the perfoard version and it sounds perfect !! Thanks for the good work.

ReplyDeleteTry increasing the value of that pot
Deletemeaning? C1M for example?
DeleteYeah, or B1M would probably work as well if you can't find a C1M.
DeleteThanks man. Will try it and post what happened

DeleteHey mate, how did it turn out? Close to the original?
