CMAT Mods Butah

Here's a Blues Breaker variation from CMAT Mods. Seems to be a blend of the original and second versions of the Blues Breaker. Originals use a 1N4148 for polarity protection, but a 1N5817 would be better. It's laid out for board mounted pots and will fit in a 1590G if you're into those.

  5. In the original bluesbreaker 3K3 is the resistor in series with 10n cap , not 4K7 . Are you sure it's the opposite in the Butah? Thanks

    1. Cheers for the reply. Having a nightmare with the last couple of pedals i've made. Spending this sunday literally rebuilding this board again, from scratch as i have with a EQD ghost echo.
I cannot for the life of me get anything to make any sound. Im doing something incredibly wrong because i've rebuilt this twice and the EQD ghost echo twice now and all 4 pedals are not making a noise unless i ground them from the back of the pots with literally my hands touching them and its not running through the circuit yet i have voltage. Any tips you could throw my way, as im testing all components before they go on the board and after and i am some what baffled as to why i keep failing at this final hurdle. and im running out of hair to keep pulling lol

  7. Hey man, great build, thanks a lot for this! This will be my first pedal, and I soldered everything together except the connections that will go off-board. I see you marked 1s and 3s at the top of the board. Will they go to the 1st rows of each column? For example, there's nothing on AA, but it starts at AF. Same thing with 9V, ground, in and out. Sorry for the noob question, I checked all the layout notes and everything, and I saw you wrote that you like everything clean and try to keep these connections on the side,s but couldn't find any info about this instance. Assistance much appreciated in advance!

    1. Those labels reference the marked pads closest to them (black circles on the perf side, colored on the PCB side). The pot names and lug references are across the top. The Gain 3 to the pad at (F, A), Gain 2 to (F, C), Gain 1 to (F, E), Tone 1 to (B, G), Tone 2 to (B, I), Tone 3 to (B, K), Volume 3 to (F, M), Volume 2 to (F, O), and Volume 1 to (F, Q). The labels for In/Out, +9v/Ground are directly below the pads they're referencing.
