Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face

Happy #FuzzFriday! Got a request for this one. It's the classic silicon Fuzz Face circuit with a few added components.

    1. The 47µF cap is the power filter. Replacing it with a lower cap shouldn't change the sound of the effect.

  2. VR50K and VR 10K
    How to adjust?

  3. Use 2n3904 para q1 y 2n2222 para q2. Lo importante es el hfe y medir los voltajes para los transistores... Suena lindo

  4. Hi, im trying to put together my first one. So, I've a couple of questions:

1.The output comes from the Volume Pot #2?
2.How to bias? and/or at what value each transistor should be?

    Thank you in advance!

    1. Yes, output from Vol 2. You'll need to measure the voltage on the collector of each transistor with a multimeter. Adjust the trim pots till you get the voltage listed in the layout above.

    2. Thank you for answer so fast!
      Some more precisions:
      1. should I measure voltaage from colletor with one multimeter needle and the other one on the emiter? or on ground?
      2. Its listed "Q1,2 B108-260 hFE for both"
So, how much its 260 hFE in Volts.?

    3. One on the collector, one on ground.

A lot of digital multimeters have sockets for measuring hFE, though there are other ways of doing it. Best to google it ;)

    4. OK thank you. Seems that his hobbie means to keep learning new things all the time. Cheers.

    5. Verified! It's working. After some tests its working fine. Thanks.

  5. Hi guys... Im building this as my first project...but I'm not able to find 3.16k and 82.5 resistor... can I use another with similar values?

    1. Yeah, just get as close as you can.

  7. Getting ready to build this one. What would you recommend for the transistors... BC108 B's or BC108 C's? Seems like I read a comment from Analog Man that he uses BC108 C's. Just ordered some B's and C's and will check all out.

  8. Just built one yesterday and it sound's fantastic , i'm just was about close as I can with every value.
I putted 500k pot for the Vol instead of 470 , and some of the resistors are close enough to the not making any sense values that dunlop used on their re creation of the fuzz face.
I socketed the transistors , gonna try some different NPN I've got.
But I have one weird thing maybe someone here figuered before.
When I'm crancking the Vol pot from around 70% to 100% it's getting really fizzy and much more unusable treble.
When it's about 70% it's just fat and flat and sounds really good.
    Any idea?
