Here's something interesting to do with some of those 4049UB chips. It's a CMOS Big Muff (22/7 being the fractional equivalent of pi). Brian from ROG added a switch to the tone stack to allow for flat response and a super scooped response, in addition to the classic scooped mids. I've also drawn up a version without that switch if you don't want to mess with the extra wiring. Schematic and sound clips can be found on the

Verified, for the stock version with the tone stack switch. Flat mode increases the volume a bit and extra-scooped mode drops slightly.
ReplyDeleteI experimented with different diodes, but went back to the stock Si ones. Ge diodes cut volume and sounded a little woolier, while LEDs sounded louder and less fuzzy. Without any diodes, the circuit self-oscillates.
