Himmelstrutz Fetto
Here's an original design by Himmelstrutz Elektro Art, the Fetto. It's a heavy overdrive/distortion circuit using 3 JFETs (probably 2SK170GR, but the names were sanded off the original traced by SoulSonic). These have DGS pinouts, so they're not J201, 2N5457, etc. One of the unique things about this circuit is the number of removable jumpers on the circuit board. These can be removed to tweak the sound of the effect, along side several DIP switches and 2 trimmers. In the layout below, I've replaced the removable jumpers with DIP switches for easier tweaking. The only jumper that isn't on a switch (and I don't think it was removable on the originals) is the one in parallel with the 100nF output capacitor. Not sure why this one is there. You can check out the schematic here.
now this is a beatiful layout for a great pedal! I've done some of those in the past but ended up selling them to friends. I'll be building it for myself ASAP, and I recomend you to do it! It's one of the best sounding od's around!
ReplyDeleteand yes, it needs the 2SK170BL/GR to sound right. I tried a lot of different jfets when I built it, and others don't sound right (and the BL and GR sound different)
ReplyDeleteYeaahhh Thank you
ReplyDeleteGreat work for a great od
Thank you
buddy, there's something wrong with this layout!
ReplyDeleteIt says "unverified". you can tag it, sounds fucking awesome!
Haha thanks man!
DeleteHi
DeleteNo way to have a board mounted pot layout?
Thank you
Great layout. Thanks a lot for the great work. Can I take a 220nF instead of 200nF or should I take two 100nF parallel? I can't find any 200nF anywhere. Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteA 220nF should work fine.
DeleteThanks! Would it be possible to get the Eagle file? Just saw a great offer, 10pcs of PCB for 25 EUR incl. If somebody is interested, we could order togehter, don't need 10pcs :)
ReplyDeleteI don't use Eagle and don't have gerber files for the PCB. It's one of the few shortcomings of DIYLC.
DeleteOkay, thanks :)
DeleteHell yeah, it is working. First Vero ever. Does anybody know what's the hardwire jumper for? Just want to put in a case before I can test the rest.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeletei like you`re layouts very much, so thank you very much for this work.
I have a question about that linked schematic.
What is that transistor, ...etc. after treble cut 3 doing, (D2, Q4, R13, D3)?
I don`t get it, since there is no connection to output when footswich is on.
Is it only for that LED? Is there a connection i dont see?
Thank you in advance.
Greets Lars
That's for the millennium bypass switching. There's a separate layout for that here on the blog.
