Xotic AC & RC Booster

Got a request for the RC. The AC is just a few value changes, so I drew them up to be built on the same board. Seems like a Tube Screamer with a 2-band EQ section to me.

  2. work for me , thanks for layout, see my vidio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SoAaUVj1SU

    1. Yes it has (RC 6 Diodes symmetrically, AC 3 diodes asymmetrically. I shrinked them together and installed them (3 in series) instead of D1-3). Watch the polarity!

  4. I know it says verified, but I made a AC boost using this layout and couldn't make it sound right, the output was pretty low, I took a long time trying to find something wrong, and just gave up

  5. Several times checked the circuit, but did not understand what was going on, the sound is very low, the bass in the ground and it seems that locks, fuzz nemnogo.V original zvuchit.Esli everything else will not solve the problem, try the items on another scheme to do.

  6. Removed 100N** and 500K=250K and the sound became clearer, turned RC/AC ).I was pleased with the sound.

  7. Any mods for turning it in a BASS RC booster?? :O

  8. For the RC I recommend to replace the resistor of 47k ohms with a 4k7 ohms. Use a 250k pot for gain. This gives you a clean gain range with a little overdrive at the end.
I used BC550 instead of the 2n5088 so i dont know if this makes a difference....

  10. Not completely verified for me in AC configuration.
It turns wrong when the bass knob increases. Probably a problem in the tone stack: with my sound probe, it appears that the sound is turning muddy (with strong attack: a lot of compression and very fuzzy) after R8. Any idea?

  11. Second pcb done and still the same problem. i definitely confirm that this AC booster pcb doesn't work...

  12. Hey guys, the problem is solved now and come from the drawing.

If you want the AC booster, you have to install the 3 diodes asymetrically but do not follow the scheme above. D2 must be reversed (in the "south" direction, like D3). D1 and D2 are here, on the drawing, head to tail and will cause the problems i listed before.

If you take into consideration this mistake, it works perfectly.
I have used 10k for R5 as it is mentionned on FSB.org
    Cheers!

    1. Yes, thats what i mentioned on sept. 29. I feel sorry, that you fell into the same trap :). I already asked the author to correct his plan. Maybe he just forgot to or didnt have the time yet...

  13. Swap pin 3 with pin 1 in the gain pot, drawing shows the oposite. Great pedal, thanks as always!

  14. Apart from all things said by now, there is also another mistake. To me it caused sound to go through even with the vol pot all the way down. The 10u cap (C12) is misplaced. It's supposed to be on the Vref rail (the one where the link is) between 22K and 6K8 resistors.

    1. Ciao Zanius scusa ma non mi è chiaro che cosa intendi per il condensatore da 10u....
hai un disegno o una foto dello schema corretto che puoi farci avere ?
      Te ne saremmo molto grati!
Hello Zanius sorry but I'm not clear what you mean by the 10u capacitor ....
do you have a drawing or a picture of the correct scheme that you can have?
      We would be very grateful!

  15. Encontré la falla de volumen, hay que reemplazar la resistencia de 10k que va ligada al pin1 del IC, por una de 1k, mejora la ecualización y da realmente la diferencia de volumen deseada, espero les sirva como a mí! Mucha suerte!
