Lovepedal Eternity

The Eternity Overdrive is kind of like the Big Muff of Lovepedal in that it has a ton of different versions (there are over 10 I believe), but it's basically a Tube Screamer without the input/output buffers. I've drawn up 2 versions here, the Black and the Burst. The main difference between the 2 is the clipping stage. The Black version has an asymmetrical clipping stage, while the Burst has a 4 diode symmetrical clipping stage. The other differences are just minor value changes.

I've added polarity protection and put the LED resistor on the board. I've also added a 47pf cap in parallel with the clipping diodes in the Burst version that MadBean added in his Drunken Dragon version of the Eternity. Sean from Lovepedal says that the secret behind the Eternity is a LM1458, but any dual op-amp should work fine (JRC4558, NE5532, TL072, etc.). They'll just sound different, so adjust to taste.

Board size on both layouts is 2 x 1.4 inches or 51 x 35.5 mm.

  1. you can mark this as verified, built it and it works and sound good (did the black)
only thing is you have to reverse legs 1 and 3 of the gain and volume pots for them to work the right way.

  2. just did the burst version too, more range everywhere (drive, tone and volume)
think ill blend the two together as i prefer asym clipping...or ill try mosfets in there just for giggles.

me thinks im ultra addicted to solder fumes :-p

    1. Have you boxed it up? You might be getting interference if it's not shielded. Otherwise try increasing the power filter cap (47µ on the right).

  5. in the black version 55nf is too hard to get, I can't find this capacitor. can I use other one?

  6. A 47n is well within tolerances. I'd just go with what you have that's close.

  7. Does anyone have a schematic for the Roadhouse variant?

  8. I recently built the black version using this layout. I noticed that with right angle pots mounted from the solder side of the board that the volume and drive knobs work as intended but the tone knob seems to work backwards (seemingly the opposite problem to that of modeffected - perhaps he mounted the pots from the component side?).

  10. Sorry, do you have the drilling template?? Thanks bro!!

    1. Yeah, really you're probably better off using the new Son of Screamer layout and altering the values to match the Eternity. The circuit is exactly the same, just altered values.
