It is meant for the hobbyist (so commercial use of any of these layout is not allowed without permission) and as a way to give back to the online DIY community.

EarthQuaker Devices The Warden

200th layout! Here's an optical compressor from EQD with a lot of controls. There are still a few question marks regarding this circuit over on FreeStompboxes.org, but DiamondAmps (the tracer) said he got it working on a breadboard. If any more updates are made to that thread I will adjust the layout accordingly. Apparently the hardest part with this circuit is choosing the LDR. The tracer used a Silonex NS-32 SR3. In theory this will fit in a 1590B, but I'd go with a 125B like the original. On board pots can be used and are in the same configuration as the original. Couldn't make it work without a few jumpers sadly, but I wanted to keep the footprint down.

  1. to what degree is this verified? on the fsb thread they still seem pretty confused on the schematic with some distortion problems. is this the real deal?

    1. I received an email from someone a while ago saying they'd built it successfully. They didn't mention any distortion. It is based off the schematic on FSB, so build at your own risk.

  2. Hey, i build this board but it doesn't work. It generates a high frequency tone and you can't here the guitar at all...
    I checked almost everything and switched the IC's. Any ideas? Did you use the Optocoupler mentioned?

  3. I've built it, and it has lots of distortion. The sustain, attack, tone and release pots don't do much except kill the signal when cranked or dimed. The LED flashes normal when playing, but other than that no luck.
    I've then swapped the 1M under the OPA for a 10M and reversed D5 and it's marginally better, but still unusable. I don't think this could count as verified.
